Getting Started Guide

How your first
favour starts.

Marisol moves to a new city. She knows no one. She posts a Surface: free Saturday mornings, can lift 40lb, has a station wagon. Within a week, the city starts to know her back.

1 Step One

Post your first Logistic.

A Logistic is the fundamental unit of Favour Bucks. It's a pickup, a dropoff, and a time constraint. Attach a Rider — your spec sheet — and the network finds someone to fulfil it.

Origin
Where is the pickup?
Any location — home, office, store, curb. Be as specific as you need. The network matches Ryders within range.
Example: "Unit 4, 121 King St W, Toronto"
Destination
Where does it need to go?
Another address, a person's name, a drop zone. The Ryder delivers end-to-end. You get confirmation when it's done.
Example: "Sarah Chen, 88 Queen East, Suite 12"
Time Constraint
When does it need to arrive?
Set a window. Wider window = more Ryders = faster match. The network routes optimally within your constraint.
Example: "Before 5pm today" or "Anytime this week"
The Rider
What does the Ryder need?
The Rider is your spec sheet. Attach skills required, equipment needed, access codes, handling instructions. The network matches on fit.
Example: "Fragile. Needs car. Call on arrival."

2 Step Two

Build your Surface.

Your Surface is the slice of yourself you contribute to the network — your time, skills, capital, and location, stacked into a unit of useful work. The bigger your Surface, the more Logistics you can fulfil. The more you earn.

3 Step Three

Join or start a Group.

Groups share assets, cover risk, and build local commons together. A vehicle you rarely use can become part of a shared pool that helps people move, recover, and show up. Find a group that fits your Surface.

🚗
Transport Collective
Shared vehicle pool. Members contribute cars, vans, cargo bikes, and routes. Earned rebates return value to the people doing the work.
Example Group type
🏠
Neighbourhood Commons
Local support network. Tools, storage, skills. Built around your postcode. Insurance pooled across all members.
Example Group type
💻
Digital Services Guild
Tech, design, writing, admin. Fulfill digital Logistics from anywhere. Shared software licences, shared standards, shared reputation.
Example Group type
🧭
Map Builders
Map accessible entrances, reliable routes, tool shelves, drop-off points, and local capacity the network can actually use.
Example Group type
🌱
Start a New Group
Define your own shared purpose. Write the rules clearly, publish what the Group pools, and make the value visible from the start.
→ Be the first in your area
4 Step Four — Optional

Pair your Desktop Bridge.

The Desktop Bridge turns your Mac or PC into a fully controllable node. Voice-command your computer from your phone. Run Logistics in the background while you work. Optional, but powerful.

On your phone

Go to Settings → Desktop Bridge → Add New Computer

  1. Tap Scan QR Code
  2. Point at your computer screen
  3. Bridge pairs automatically over your local network
  4. Test: say "take a screenshot" — your desktop responds

On your computer

The bridge server generates a pairing token. Display it from Settings → Bridge → Show Token, or via the terminal:

Token rotates every 30 days. LAN-only by default. Never exposed to the internet unless you enable LAN mode.

Your Setup Checklist

Track your progress.

Tick each step as you complete it. All five = you're fully live in the network.
